What is video production?

Video production is the digital equivalent to film making.  It is the process of creating video content.  The process has many steps from planning, script writing, and filming to eventually putting all of that together with effective transitions and a concrete plot.

About our class

Learn how to create YouTube content! Shoot videos, edit sound, and create an online presence with YouTube. YouTube is the top destination for online videos. Learn tricks that pro filmmakers use for better shots, lighting, and sounds. Edit your video, add transitions, insert a soundtrack, capture a video gaming session. Then share your finished video with the world. Students will have their own computers to edit with but will be sharing video equipment

After the class

In this class, students went through the digital editing process from start to finish. Students created their own video by filming scenes and using several lighting and camera techniques. They then edited their own video while learning about video editing basics.

Parent activity suggestions:

• Ask your child about video editing. What are transitions? What types of transitions did they use this week? What is Audio? Did they make any changes to the audio of the video this week? Film and create a video together! Let them show you all the new tips and tricks they learned. If they forget any of the editing steps, you can go back and look on google classroom.
• Create a video!  Work with your child to develop an idea and a script, and they can show you how they can edit it
• If your child is really interested in developing a lot of videos, help them create a YouTube channel with a theme.  In class we discussed how to get viewers interested in your other videos, help them apply these techniques
