What is film production?
Film production and film making is the process of recording and editing media content, usually for the purpose of theatrical release. Scenes must be properly staged, then footage must be captured and edited to create a film.
About our class
Learn film editing basics and how to use Hollywood-style special effects techniques. Possible special effects learned in class include animated lasers, custom light sword, pulp sci-fi crawl, and hyperdrive effects. Groups’ final projects will be emailed to parents, or students may bring a USB jump drive the last day. Student photography release must be signed for this class. Please bring a snack daily.

After the class
In this class, students went through the digital editing process from start to finish. Students created their own movie by filming scenes and using special-effect techniques while learning about film editing basics.
Parent Activity Suggestions:
- Ask your child to about video editing. What are transitions? What types of transitions did the group use this week? What are video effects? Did the group use video effects? What about credits?

Insert your flash drive into your computer and double click on the file ending in .mov. Enjoy!
