Scratch 3.0 Game coding
About our scratch class
What is Scratch?
Scratch is a free programming language. With it, you can program your own interactive stories, games, and animations. Scratch helps people learn to think creatively. It is used by people of all ages to learn the basics of coding in a simpler form with less emphasis on proper grammar and more focus on coding concepts.
About our class
New Class! This course will give you hands-on experience developing your own game using Scratch 3, a visual coding platform. Students will learn how to think like a programmer, and learn coding concepts while creating a two-dimensional game. The first part of the class will be instructor-led; with the time remaining, students will have the opportunity to customize their games. Bring a USB drive, a drink, and a snack to class.
Continued learning
After the class
In this course, students were introduced to the concept of coding through scratch 3.0. They learned about variables, loops, and other important coding concepts while making a fun game.
Parent activity suggestions:
- Work more on Scratch projects. Have your student explain their project to you and ask them questions about how they got certain game elements to work
- Look here for some Scratch Ideas that your student could try out on their own
- Encourage your student to continue to modify the game that they completed this week!
